This project works on a cost-recovery model, meaning that it charges fees, whereas STAR is completely free. Interested learners pay a fee to learn the skills they require in a specific trade. The trainees complete a three-month apprenticeship under a Master Crafts Person (MCP).

Young people in Bangladesh find themselves at the forefront of navigating through immense challenges socially and economically in the current context. As the country finds political stability in the coming future under the interim Government, it is time to take stock of what youth really need from society. One-fourth of the country’s population is between the ages of 15-29. Based on the NEET population the country is 28.8% of the young population, which is roughly 13 million. According to the Labour Force Survey 2016-17 , 92% of work is in the informal sector, which is about 12 million young people. BRAC, as an organisation, has always stayed relevant to the needs of youth inclusive of the informal sector. Social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok are no longer just for social connection; they are key spaces where young people advocate for change and express themselves. According to The Daily Star, individuals aged 15-29 make up approximately 27.96% of the total population. This demographic is increasingly using social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok to express their opinions, connect with peers, and advocate for change. By the end of 2022, social media usage among the 18 to 24 age group in Bangladesh, increased significantly. Facebook had the largest user base in this demographic, with 21.7 million users.
